Open House Reception
The Office of Sponsored Programs, Office of the President, and the Foundation are co-hosting an open house reception on Thursday, November 20 to recognize faculty and staff with grant and contract awards this past fiscal year. The reception will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 in the Commons Georgian Lounge. A brief program will take place between 2:30 and 3:00.
The University would like to take this opportunity to celebrate and thank you for your efforts to obtain external funding that enriches the experiences of our students, enhances our teaching and scholarship, and provides value to our greater community and beyond. Please join us in this moment to step back and celebrate your success.

Iowa Title II Education Grants
The Request for Proposals to the Fiscal Year 2008 Iowa Title II Grant Program is now available at: http://www2.iowaccess.org/regents/HigherEd/titleii.htm Title II grants consist of Teacher Quality State grants (Title IIA) and Mathematics and Science Partnership grants (Title IIB). Required letters of intent are due Nov. 28, 2008.
OSP will offer a brown bag informational session on the Title II Grant Program on Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 12:00-1:00 in the OSP conference room (201 East Bartlett Hall). Institutional Matching Funds for Grants: The Office of Sponsored Programs has finalized the guidelines and application for Institutional Matching Funds. The goal of the Institutional Matching Funds program is to further promote research and scholarly/creative activity on campus by supporting principal investigators/project directors (PIs/PDs) who are pursuing external funding where matching funds are required or are necessary to be competitively successful.
OSP Leadership:
The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost has announced that Christy Twait has accepted the position of Assistant Provost for Sponsored Programs effective September 1. Christy has served as the Interim Associate Vice President for Sponsored Programs since July 2007.
OSP Adds a New Position to Post Award Management:
Lori Miller began her new position at UNI as the Post Award Support Services Coordinator in July. The majority of Lori's duties will focus on reviewing and processing award documents, preparing subaward documents, preparing professional service agreements and training. Prior to coming to OSP, Lori worked at a local nonprofit agency, Operation Threshold, as their Community Resources Director. At Operation Threshold, Lori helped run several different programs such as energy assistance, crisis assistance and foreclosure prevention. She was also very active in the Local Homeless Coordinating Board.

Graduate College Summer Fellowships:
Consider a Summer Fellowship to support your grant proposal preparation. Application materials for faculty summer fellowship are now available from the Graduate College: Summer Fellowships Summer fellowship application materials are due by Friday, Oct. 31. OSP Summer 2009 Grants Workshop:
Mark your calendars. OSP will offer a multi-session experiential grant-development workshop during May and June of 2009. The workshop will guide participants through the full process of grant seeking, project development, grant writing, budgeting, and project evaluation. By the end of the workshop, all participants will have produced complete grant proposals, suitable for submission. The Summer Grants Workshop is designed to coincide with the Summer Fellowships and to provide Fellows with guided support toward meeting grant application objectives. Conversely, individuals need not be Summer Fellows to participate in the workshop. Full announcements for the Summer Grants Workshop will be made later in the year. The number of workshop participants will be limited. National Science Foundation Regional Grants Conference:
Planning a proposal to the NSF? Want to know more about the NSF, its programs and procedures? To be held Omaha, NE Oct. 20-21, 2008, this regional conference will cover current NSF funding, new policies and procedures, and pertinent administrative issues. NSF program officers representing each NSF directorate will be on hand to provide up-to-date information about specific funding opportunities and answer your questions. New Grant Program - Iowa Power Fund: The Office of Energy Independence accepts pre-applications for the Iowa Power Fund on the 1st day of each month. Proposals should support the goals of Iowa energy independence. For more information on the program and the application process see: Iowa Power Fund

UNI Grants and Contracts Incentive Funds Program Guidelines:
The purpose of the UNI Grants and Contracts Incentive Funds Program is to encourage faculty/P&S staff, colleges, departments, and other administrative units to actively seek externally funded projects. The program provides financial support to those administrative units and Principal/Co-Investigators or Project Directors/Co-Directors (PIs/PDs) who successfully obtain sponsored project funding. The monies are distributed from a university general operating fund account and are based on the facilities and administrative costs (also known as indirect costs) awarded by the sponsor. Distributions are normally made in the month that the sponsored award is reported to the State Board of Regents. Office of Financial Aid administered grants are excluded from the incentive funds distribution program.
